WHY MY LTTLE GIRLS CANNOT WATCH BEYONCE VIDEOS

FIRST SOME FACTS

1. I AM NOT A HATER
2. I AM A BIG BEYONCE FAN
3. I AM NOT A PRUDE

NOW, I AM TRULY DISGUSTED AT HOW WE ALLOW OUR GIRLS TO LITERALLY LEARN HOW TO BE VIXENS BEFORE THEY ARE EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW THE MEANING OF THE WORD. SOMEHOW THE CONCEPT OF A GLAMOUROUS , LARGER THAN LIFE, FEMALE SINGER WHO GIRLS COULD LOOK UP TO HAS TURNED INTO SOME SORT OF STRIPPER TRAINING MANUAL THAT I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH. AS WOMEN WE ALL WANT TO BE ALLURING AND SEXY TO SOME CAPACITY AND I UNDERSTAND THAT AS ADULTS WE ARE FREE TO EXPRESS OURSELVES IN ANY WAY WE WANT, SO I AM NOT WRITING THIS PIECE TO CONDEMN ANYONE. WHAT I DO KNOW IS THAT WHAT WE DECIDE OUR CHILDREN WILL BE EXPOSED TO IS A MATTER OF TRUE URGENCY AND I WILL NOT ALLOW MY GIRLS TO VIEW THEIR SEX APPEAL AS THEIR POWER.

IT REALLY HURTS ME AS AN ARTIST THAT I AM FORCED TO SENSOR MY CHILDREN FROM A PERSONS IMAGERY DESPITE THEIR OBVIOUS TALENT. IT IS EASY TO SAY NO TO SOME OF THE MORE MINDLESS MUSIC AND ITS NEGATIVE FEMALE IMAGES BUT MORE AND MORE I FIND MYSELF IN THIS BATTLE WITH ARTISTS WHOM I RESPECT. THE WHOLE THING JUST MAKES ME SAD. I WONDER HOW SO MANY OF OUR YOUNG FEMALE ARTISTS REALLY FEEL ABOUT THIS. DO THEY REALLY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE DOING NO HARM? DO THEY KNOW AND DON'T CARE AND WHY DON'T THEY CARE? I AM NOT PUTTING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF RAISING OUR YOUTH ON THE BACKS OF ENTERTAINERS BUT DAMN! AS WOMEN SHOULDN'T WE HAVE A BETTER SENSE OF OUR OBLIGATION TO POSITIVELY INFLUENCE THE YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE?

I agree Aja, Beyonce is a great singer and performer and I have two girls.....I don't want them to grow up thinking that this is what they have to look like....

I totally agree with you also...Beyonce is a beautiful person, but I don't like the way she and other female artists like: Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, and countless others have to "exposed" themselves like that. Their bodies are their temples and that they should leave it to their significant others to see, not the world...our innocent girls grow up too fast:( and they also think it's okay to do those things and really, it isn't. What went wrong through our generations as "queens and princesses"? God bless our "sistas"!!!!!!!

I feel you on this. I have little cousins and I don't let them watch Beyonce', Nicki Manaj, or Rihanna. All of them are very talented but what their image send out is not what I would want them to see or feel they have to do or look a certain way.

I agree with you. I have a teenege daughter and it's a full time job shielding, pre-screening, and filtering out the filth, degredation and over-sexualize images of young women (and men). Form music, TV, Movies, Clothes, and language, we as parents have to set standards and draw the line somewhere no matter what others say. This is called parenting...

I think this is a form of social terrorism. The tatoo's and piercing's are out of control as well! Lil cats look unhealthy. Manhood is not defined by abstract artificial signs of success!

You are absolutely telling the truth, I don't put the responsibility on their backs, put these are impressionable young girls, that might not have a mother at home telling them that this image is not okay. she is beautiful, but I want my daughter to know where her beauty lies, and to wait on the Creator to complete her, with the one who will move mountains for her. For instance I have went to family party, and all of the little to girls want to be like " Beyonce" no one said their mothers, grandmothers or aunts. The people they see in their lives everyday. Same for the boys no one said their fathers, ministers, imams, or pastors all of they said " LIL Wayne". The responsibility lies within all of us. I pray that I'm giving my children a healthy image. We are in a state of emergency.

I like the direction your going with this! Too often our Nubian Queens feel they have to go to extremes, and expose their goods, in order to move units. Don't get me wrong, I love a beautiful black woman, but leave something to the imagination. We need the sista's to really check these impressionable young women. I believe in a traditional relationship as well meaning a man and a woman, we keep it real in the south. Please check my website www:rfdesigns.tech.officelive.com Luv ya'll peace!!!!!

Its that reason and many others as to why I will not allow my children to watch videos or listen to what is too loosely referred to as music these days.

As Chris Rock said Your job as parents is to keep your daughters off the Pole. with that being said
I agree one hundred million percent why do you have to be almost naked to show your talent. I am just hoping that with your music and influence you can bridge the gap, meaning give us something really special to look at.
