Well, I'll jump right in. I've seen some very open displays of racism since Jan 2008. Nothing scary, just stuff that makes you say 'wow'. Along with eye rolls, bumper stickers, and blatant remarks, our lovely state has reinstated Confederate History Month for April (I call it April Fools Month). Those special interest groups have lined the pockets of many and they are expecting to change us back to the old south!
OMG! SOMEONE FINALLY RESPONDED TO THIS DISCUSSION! CONFERDERATE HISTORY MONTH! REALLY????? CAN'T SAY I'M SURPRISED THO. AT LEAST I KNOW NOW THAT ITS NOT JUST ME. THANKS ALECEA!
Absolutely, all we heard post election is, how we've moved past racism....if anything its more blatant
Because we are a world of differences, there will ALWAYS be prejudice and racism.

It's funny to me, how people think that by us having a black president, that America has overcome its core issue (racism). The fact that we have a black president shows that we as a country do have a population with some dignity and character left. Please believe that I am in Delaware and you can see it clear from my view.

It still is very hurtful and confusing.  Just the other day my son and his fiance', who happens to be Asian-German was walking in the courtyard of his apartment complex.  My son is a very well-mannered individual with integrity praise The Most High God.  My son greets this white "gentleman" with a "a afternoon".  The "gentleman" responds "hey ya hood-rat"!  My son did not know how to respond to that.  We are from NYC and have been relocated to TN since 2005.  How does one respond to that?  I advised him if he sees that person again, greet him respectfully once more.  If he gets the same response, say no sir, my name is Mr. so and so or give his proper first name.  I don't want my son to ever respond with fierce anger because I feel that is what is expected.

Very blantant and disrespectful!

Just an update on the incident regarding my son, the offensive man who was constantly offending was son went a bit further by calling him the "N" word.  My son lost it!  Fortunately he had other people with him (of mixed races) and they held him back from fighting with this man. My son called the police and they arrested this person. Later after reading the report, not only did this man have warrants out on him but he had a knife on him.  I thank God for His protection.  No telling what would have happened.  The complex my son lives in evicted this man and he was "placed" in another county.  Side note....the movers were all black.  Karma...beautiful when you walk in the Light.
