IS THERE A SONG THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE? PLEASE DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED TO MENTION A KINDRED SONG UNLESS IT GENUINELY APPLIES

I HAVE MANY... BUT I 'D LIKE TO MENTION "MAKE SURE YOU'RE SURE" BY STEVIE WONDER. IT WAS THE FIRST SONG MY HUSBAND EVER SANG TO ME. IT TOTALLY APPLIED TO THE PLACE I WAS IN AT THE TIME AND HELPED ME SEE HOW MUCH IN LOVE WITH HIM I WAS.

I HAVE A FEW. THE FIRST ONE THAT COMES TO MIND IS "BE GRATEFUL" BY WALTER HAWKINS. AND THE NEXT ONE TO ABSOLUTELY CHANGE MY LIFE WAS "NO WEAPON" by FRED HAMMOND. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE LORD AND ALL THAT HE HAS DONE FOR ME. YOUR MUSIC FEELS LIKE IT IS INSPIRED BY THIS SAME LOVE AND SO ANYTHING YOU SING IS LIFE CHANGING FOR ME.
Great song!

"This Battle is Not yours" gets me through
I Wish I Wasn't - Heather Headley. This song helped me realize that I was in a relationship (marriage) with unrequited love. "I'm home alone again. And you're out hangin' with your friends - so you say. Somehow I know it's not quite that way. It's getting pretty late, and you haven't checked on me all day. When I call, you didn't answer - now I'm feeling like you're ignoring me." I could recite the entire song. There were many of nights that I would be tired of being alone and lonely and I would just go drive and sing to this song on repeat. I can honestly say I gave my all and am proud of my efforts.
Lost and Turned Out "Olivia the Slave" by the Whispers - was the first song that ever affected me. As a young child, it reminded me of a person that was near and dear to me that were out on the street. it was a bit haunting.
I have a few songs that I must say that really touched me but Maxwell This Woman's Work has a special meaning for me...Thinking back to She's Having a Baby when the song was originally sang by a woman (Kate Bush), the scene when the wife was having difficulty makes me think of the challenges that women go through to give birth...Just amazing...
Far Away is definately one of my favorite that hits gome for me

I HAVE MANY SONGS I COULD MENTION BUT IN ALL HONESTY NOTHING HIT ME LIKE,  NO LIMIT, THRU LOVE CONTENTMENT,WHAT HAPPENS NOW, RHYTHM OF LIFE  AND SO MANY OTHER  KINDRED SONGS, IF I WERE TO MENTION THEM   I WOULD RUN OUT OF SPACE AND I'M SERIOUS. THERE IS SUCH A CONNECTION WITH THERE MUSIC BECAUSE ITS REAL ITS LIFE ON LIFE TERMS NOT OURS THE UPS, DOWNS, GOOD, BAD, STRUGGLES, AND STILL FINDING LOVE AND HUMANITY AND EXPRESSING IT ALL ON WAX SO PEOPLE LISTEN UP AND REFLECT!!!!!

this could take all day! lol but I love "don't change" (musiq soulchild) The Truth By India Arie

... but the song that is forever on my playlists is Woman First.

After hurricane Katrina with mu husband, 4 kids my 2 sisters and my momma in tow- I first heard that song, it broght me to tears, after being in that water, and only having 2 complete outfits, 3 pairs of underware I did not feel pretty at all, trying to help my mom and sisters - everybody calling me for EVERYTHING I was hanging on by a thread. My husband saw that and did seveal little things to make me feel all soft and pretty, he allowed me to see what he saw while I was a daughter, a sister, a wife and a mother that everybody needed more than the other.

Aja,

seemed like you felt my pain when you sang that song! I still listen to it everyday..... everyday- so thank you for that

I must say many Kindred songs have changed me & my life  .Yet  lately Teach me by Fantasia and Jazmine Sullivan's Redemption have been two songs i find myself singing & listening to on repeat.....Wrds are very important to me way more then beats ... Dont get me wrong sum sweet instrumentals can still take me places but wrds over beats in my eyes.
I know you asked for one, but two songs come to mind for me and both are equally as important in my life. First one is Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You". It not only introduced me to the legend that is Donny Hathaway, but it let me know the power music had on people and how much I wanted to make music that affected people in the same way. The second, Your song, "Far Away" because for the first time in song, me and my wife finally found someone who, "got it" when it came to the struggles of raising kids, the pressures of life and how that affects relationships, especially married folks. Don't get me wrong, I know single folks go through it too and need to get away, but when your married life is amplified that much more, which in turn makes that much more important to go, "far away form here, far away from, far away from HERE!, just jump in a taxi cab (or in our case, jump on a cruise ship! LOL), pack our bags and get away FAST!!!!!" Grace & Peace and I'll see y'all on Sunday night!!!!! Can't wait.
